During the filming of this scene from 2011’s Bridesmaids, actress Kristen Wiig’s car was being pulled on a trailer so that she could concentrate on her acting. Despite the fact that she was not actually driving, she was still pulled over by police and fined for driving while talking on her cell phone. Police say that the incident was exacerbated by Ms. Wiig’s “violent overreaction.” Officer Rhiannon Cowan (who arrested Wiig) states:
The “Distracted Driver” program is a new initiative which falls under the umbrella of the Good Samaritan law of 1998, similar to the law from the finale of the popular situation comedy Seinfeld.
Officer Cowan explained that many people do not realize that the Good Samaritan law is legally binding and not “a convenient plot device.” Wiig is expected to contest the charges.
HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE!
